The Incarnate

$12.00

In many pagan tales, devils and demons are represented as goats, and frequently referred to as the devil incarnate. This archetype refers to characters with a devilish nature and, more broadly, a world that is overrun by devils and demons. We should not be too quick to interpret these as inherently evil qualities. Indeed, it was Christianity that equated the devil with Satan, and The Incarnate can be likened to Baphomet, who was adopted by those who resisted Christianity. In this sense, The Incarnate is an archetype of resistance and countercultural attitudes. In a broader sense, resistance is required to balance power.
