However, the mariner also has a dark side: they can become consumed by discovery and depending on what they discover, they can become forever changed. This is why mariners are often represented as leaders of the undead, such as Captain Barbosa in "The Pirates of the Caribbean" or the Tibia Mariner in Elden Ring.
